General Program Description

The American Studies Institute is a 8-day seminar for University professors from social sciences departments who are fluent in English and are currently involved in teaching at respected universities in Brazil. Ideally they teach courses that already have a U.S. component. This intensive seminar will be held in Belo Horizonte and will be co-sponsored by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (FMG) and the Ponitifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC-Minas).  Two U.S. professors will conduct the colloquium, one of whom is already confirmed: Professor Ole Holsti from Duke University .

Who is eligible to apply
University professors from Brazilian universities who teach in the social sciences departments, e.g. history, anthropology, political science, international relations, sociology
, and others (20 Brazilian academics will participate in this Institute).
